About the Denver Botanic Gardens

Established in 1951, the Denver Botanic Gardens have become one of the most recognizable highlights of the Mile High City. The botanic gardens include 3 locations, with the main York Street location being in the popular Cheesman Park neighborhood of Denver. Over 1.3 million people visited the botanic gardens in 2017 and the gardens have seen continuous growth in visitors and membership. Functioning at the intersection of research, conservation, and education, the Denver Botanic Gardens offers a unique experience for visitors of all backgrounds.

The main York Street location has over 24 acres filled with native and adapted plants from various regions of the world. Guests can explore numerous themed exhibits ranging from arid Western gardens to internationally-inspired Japanese gardens. Along with its many gardens filled with diverse plants, guests can enjoy rotating art exhibitions and permanent work from renowned glass sculptor Dale Chihuly. The gardens also host a multitude of special community events and educational programs for both adults and children. Attend a concert during the beautiful summer months or marvel at thousands of lights throughout the gardens during the holiday season.

Field Trips at the Gardens

Schools groups of all ages will find a visit to the Denver Botanic Gardens to be a great learning opportunity. Guided exploration and self-guided school visits are available for students through 12th grade. Whether your school is planning a self-guided visit or a guided visit through the gardens, reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Guided groups can choose from a roster of learning courses based on age and interest. Learn about the connections between nature Orange and yellow sculpture in botanical gardenand art, plant identification, the unique ecosystems of Colorado, and so much more.

One of the most important parts of planning a field trip to any location around Denver is transportation. At National Charter Bus, we closely work with educators to organize the safest and most comfortable transportation for school groups of all sizes. Renting a modern charter bus will improve your students’ experience compared to the usual traditional yellow school bus. They’ll stay entertained with on-board WiFi and televisions while relaxing in plush seating and climate-controlled cabins instead of a muggy older school bus. We work with professional bus providers and certified drivers to offer Denver students the best possible field trip transportation. Small groups of students and chaperones attending a guided tour in the gardens can choose from a variety of charter bus rentals like comfortable but compact 25-passenger mnibuses, while large field trip groups would be better suited with a more spacious 56-passenger charter bus. Every bus we charter will include a professional driver who’s cleared a background check and has a clean driving record before transporting groups to the Denver Botanic Gardens and beyond.

Organize a Unique Private Event

The Denver Botanic Gardens has indoor and outdoor rental spaces for a variety of events. Their main York Street location would make the perfect backdrop for wedding ceremonies and receptions, a business meeting or corporate gathering, or even a private party for birthdays and special occasions. Outdoor rentals are available during spring through early fall, while indoor rentals are available year-round. Plan a wedding in the romantic rose gardens during the beautiful, blooming summer months or host a corporate holiday party in Marnie’s Pavilion with views of orchids and tropical plants.

If you’re hosting a large-scale event at the botanic gardens, it's important to keep in mind that parking is limited in the gardens parking garage. Some of the largest rental spaces at the Denver Botanic Gardens can accommodate up to 1,000 guests, which can lead to a parking hassle for many guests. Providing private shuttle transportation from nearby business centers or hotels will make it easier for guests to arrive and depart your event. For exceptionally large events, we’ll help you build a custom fleet of charter buses to accommodate each and every guest. They’ll feel like VIPs while leaving the transportation up to National Charter Bus and a team of professional drivers.
